Baseball is back!
The baseball gods have rewarded our patience over four long days of no Royals baseball with a double-dip today, thanks to an April 25 rainout. The Royals and White Sox will play a day-night doubleheader, with Chris Young getting the ball first for the Royals against old friend Jeff Samardzija. Samardzija has a history with the Royals this season, from plunking Lorenzo Cain intentionally on Opening Day, to being at the center of a brawl back in April. This will be the first time "Shark" has faced the Royals since Opening Day, when they got him for five runs in six innings. In 12 2/3 career innings against the Royals, Samardzija has an ugly 6.39 ERA.
The Royals are expected to call up left-handed pitcher John Lamb to be the 26th man in the nightcap while the White Sox will bring up flamethrowing prospect Frankie Montas. The Royals have some interesting roster decisions to make over the next week with Kris Medlen and possibly Jason Vargas needing to be added to the roster soon. John Lamb may get to make his Major League debut today, or he may be shuttled back down without even breaking a sweat. Who knows.
LINE EM UP FOR THE SECOND HALF!
Something More Than Free Lineup: Escobar 6, Moustakas 5, Cain 8, Hosmer 3, Morales DH, Infante 4, Rios 9, Butera 2, Dyson 7, Young 1.
