Game XCII Thread: The Pirates of Pittsburgh versus the Royals of Kansas City

Jason Vargas and the Royals go up against Pirates' ace Gerrit Cole.

Be good.
Be good.

Tonight the Royals will attempt to right the ship after last night's hit fest.

To get back into the win column, the Royals will have to do so against former first overall pick of the draft Gerrit Cole. While last night's starter A.J. Burnett is having a fine season, Cole is their star pitcher. His line thus far this season is on that should not instill hope in Royals fans. So far, he has a 2.30 ERA, 2.73 FIP, 2.94 xFIP, 2.98 SIERA, 8.90 K/9, 2.15 BB/9, and 4.14 K/BB.

Pitted against the Pirates' ace will be Jason Vargas. Vargas, making his first start since June 8, is coming off his second stint on the disabled list this season. Vargas has made just eight starts this season, amassing 41.2 IP of 4.10 ERA, 4.28 FIP, 4.56 xFIP baseball.

Hold onto your hats.
