Game 127 Thread: Orioles vs. Royals Finale

Day game bizarro lineup commence!

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Last night was unfun. Johnny Cueto was terrible for his second consecutive start, giving up another half-dozen or so runs for the birds. Hopefully today will be different.

To the mound this afternoon goes Yordano Ventura. Ventura, derided as being terrible, a headcase, stupid, and unworthy of a roster spot at many times throughout the season, has nonetheless been fantastic recently. Ventura's last three starts have yielded these numbers:

19 innings pitched, 21 strikeouts, 8 walks, 0 hit by pitch, 1 home run, 1.42 ERA

Hopefully Mr. Ventura can continue this success today. Behind him, however, lies a very weird, late-season day game lineup:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Royals?src=hash">#Royals</a> take on the Orioles at 1:10 CT on <a href="https://twitter.com/FSKansasCity">@FSKansasCity</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/MLBNetwork">@MLBNetwork</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/MLBTV">@MLBTV</a> & <a href="https://twitter.com/610SportsKC">@610SportsKC</a>: <a href="http://t.co/jN6bnQIwAt">http://t.co/jN6bnQIwAt</a> <a href="http://t.co/DWBQxbk0Vn">pic.twitter.com/DWBQxbk0Vn</a></p>— Royals (@Royals) <a href="https://twitter.com/Royals/status/636923936626765826">August 27, 2015</a></blockquote>

While you can hardly blame Yost for giving Eric Hosmer and Lorenzo Cain some needed days off, the result is a pretty terrible lineup that sacrifices both offense and defense.

Game time is 1:10, unless the scattered storms in the area delay it.
