Need I say more?
The Royals are about 583 games in first place. They've already clinched their seventh straight non-losing series. They go for the sweep against the Rays today, but it's more than just one series. If the Royals win today, they'll have completed a perfect 7-0 record against Tampa Bay this season. I've watched this team for decades, and I can't remember a time they swept a season series against a team they played home-and-home sets with.
Danny Duffy takes the ball for the Royals, while Nathan Karns heads to the hill for Tampa Bay. Karns was lit up for seven runs back on July 9 against Kansas City. Duffy has not pitched against the Rays since his rookie season in 2011; he allowed three runs in seven innings in that start.
Salvador Perez gets the day off today, but the rest of the lineup remains the same. Oh, and in case you needed any further reason to be excited about an 80-49 team, this may be their last game of the year without Alex Gordon. Chills.
