The Royals go for the sweep today on "Star Wars Day" which is being held the same weekend as Kansas City Comic Con. All your favorite Star Wars characters will be there, Sal Skywalker, Hos Solo, Lorenzo Carlissian, Moosebacca, Kendrys the Hutt, even the evil Darth Samardzija. I just wish we hadn't lost Obi Won Ibanez.
The White Sox start Jose Quintana, who is quietly having another fantastic season despite his 6-9 record. He is eighth in the league in fWAR among pitchers, and since the beginning of the 2013 season he has the tenth most fWAR in baseball among pitchers. The Royals have handled him well this year though, winning two of his three starts, and getting him for eleven runs in 17 1/3 innings pitched. Quintana brings one of the best curveballs in the game, but has never fared well at Kauffman Stadium, with a 4.97 ERA in seven career starts.
The Royals made a transaction today, bringing Paulo Orlando back from Omaha and demoting infielder Cheslor Cuthbert. Orlando gets the start today and is a career 4-for-5 with two doubles against Quintana. Ben Zobrist gets the start at third today, his first start there since 2010. He has just 20 innings of experience at third in his Major League career.
