Outfielder Bubba Starling will participate in the Arizona Fall League, according to the Star's Andy McCullough. The Arizona Fall League is an off-season league typically seen as a way for prospects to get more polish just before they are big league ready. Bubba played in the AFL last year and hit just .177/.226/.241 in 84 plate appearances. The former first-round pick is coming off his best season since his inaugural season, hitting .277/.344/.446 with 10 HR 42 RBI in 97 games between High-A Wilmington and AA Northwest Arkansas.

Joining Starling in the AFL from the Royals will be catcher Zane Evans, infielder Ramon Torres, and pitchers Andrew Edwards, Kevin McCarthy, and Brooks Pounders. Evans is a fourth-round pick from 2013 out of Georgia Tech who hit .254/.285/.410 with 10 HR 53 RBI split between High-A Wilmington and AA Northwest Arkansas. The right-handed Evans will turn 24 in November. The 22-year old switch-hitting Torres hit .263/.308/.351 with 5 HR 31 RBI split between High-A Wilmington and AA Northwest Arkansas. Torres splits time between both middle infield positions and was named a 2015 Carolina League All-Star.

Andrew Edwards is a 23-year old reliever standing at 6'6'' taken in the 19th round of the 2013 draft out of Western Kentucky. In 39.1 innings for Wilmington, he had a 4.12 ERA and a lackluster 1.44 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Kevin McCarthy is also a right-handed reliever taken in the 16th round in 2013 out of Marist College. He split his time among three levels in Low A, High A, and AA, compiling a 2.47 ERA and just 1.9 walks per-nine-innings in 58.1 innings.

Brooks Pounders was originally acquired from the Pirates in 2011 for infielder Yamaico Navarro. The right-handed pitcher has pitched in just 22 games over the last two seasons due to Tommy John surgery. Pounders did make 13 starts this year across four levels with a 2.77 ERA and 7.5 strikeouts-per-nine-innings. The 24-year old has a career 3.95 minor league ERA with 8.4 strikeouts-per-nine innings.

The Royals farmhands will be assigned to the Peoria Javelinas. The Arizona Fall League runs from October 13 to November 21.
