Greg Holland held a showcase for teams today, the first time teams have seen him since he had Tommy John surgery in 2015. The Royals sent Assistant General Manager Scott Sharp to watch Holland, and have been reportedly interested in a reunion. Holland, however, underwhelmed with his velocity, throwing in the upper-80s, compared to the mid-90s he threw at his peak.

Holland suffered a “significant tear” of his ulnar collateral ligament in September of 2015 and had Tommy John surgery a few weeks later. The typical recovery time for Tommy John surgery is 12 to 16 months, and often times performance declines after the surgery. The Royals non-tendered Holland last winter, making him a free agent.
Holland has drawn a lot of interest from clubs, including the Red Sox, Giants, Yankees, and Braves.
