For the first time in 2016, the Royals and Tigers square off on a baseball diamond. At Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday evening, Kansas City and Detroit will meet for a 6:15 first pitch, which is a new policy set in place by the Royals this year. All weekday home games in April and September will begin at 6:15 instead of 7:15 for the sake of families with children in attendance.
Jarrod Dyson has been activated to the active roster and will make his season debut tonight. Dyson has been out since injuring his oblique in spring training action on March 2. To make way for Dyson on the 25-man roster, the Royals sent down Reymond Fuentes, who is hitting .238/.273/.238 in six games this year.
Kansas City also placed RHP Dillon Gee on the paternity list after Gee's wife gave birth to a daughter on Tuesday afternoon. Taking his spot on the roster will be flame-throwing reliever Miguel Almonte, who returns to the big leagues after posting a 6.23 ERA in nine games last year.
Here's tonight's lineup for the Royals, who open a six-game homestand with Yordano Ventura (0-0, 2.45 ERA) on the hill:
