The Royals and Red Sox had their game on Monday, May 17 postponed to be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader on Wednesday. The two teams were scheduled to play a 1:15 afternoon game that day, but will now add an evening game at 7:15. Fox Sports Kansas City will air both games.

Both teams will be permitted to call up a 26th man to the roster for the doubleheader. The Royals currently have no relievers at Omaha on the 40-man roster. The only pitcher on the 40-man roster is Miguel Almonte, who is scheduled to pitch on Thursday for the Storm Chasers. The Royals currently have 13 pitchers on the roster, and with the rain out on Monday, they could decide instead to bring up a bat. Brett Eibner, Terrance Gore, and Jorge Bonifacio could be possibilities on the 40-man roster, as well as Whit Merrifield, although he is not on the 40-man roster.

The Royals will not juggle their rotation around the doubleheader. Yordano Ventura, originally scheduled to pitch Monday, will not pitch Tuesday against Rick Porcello. Ian Kennedy and Edinson Volquez will pitch in the doubleheader on Wednesday, although the Royals have not determined in which order. David Price and Steven Wright were scheduled to pitch the final two games of the series for the Red Sox.

The Royals will give ticket vouchers for anyone with tickets for Monday night's game. Full exchange policies are available on the Royals website.
