There's a lot of things that can and have gone wrong this season, but the one beacon of hope that we have is the Czar of Gnar, Danny Duffy. He has been the pleasant surprise, whose success has long been foreseen, but always remained illusory behind his own personal struggles.
Tonight, he tries to get the Royals back in the New York groove after a disappointing loss yesterday.
It's not just one particular area that Duffy is excelling in either. If the season ended today, he would set career marks in strikeout rate and walk rate, with a ratio better than 5:1. There is a decent possibility that Duffy could be legit perhaps. Hopefully he can keep it up.
Los Tigres counter with Mike Pelfrey, who is 2-8 with a 4.58 ERA. It may seem like a mismatch, but baseball has a funny way of subverting expectations.
It is also worth noting that Wade Davis has been activated from the disabled list and will be available for tonight's game. In a corresponding move, Brooks Pounders was sent to AAA Omaha. His time with the Royals was brief, and marred by one really terrible inning. He'll be back, or his name isn't Brooklynns C.W. McPounders.
