On the day commemorating our Independence from the British, America sends the World Champion Kansas City Royals across the border into enemy territory to face off against the forces of evil from the north, the Canadian Blue Jays. The World Champs may not get to play on their native soil, but they can help further the American cause while striking out non-violently against the best a British Commonwealth has to offer.
That the World Champs ended Canada's hopes of bringing a title back across the border last season is not lost on either team. Blood could well be bad between these two foes with postseason history both recent and old breeding ill-will.
Missing from the fight will be Jose Bautista, who is on the disabled list for reasons not related to getting punched in the face by Rougned Odor.
The starting pitchers in tonight's tilt will be Edinson Volquez and Aaron Sanchez.
