Joakim Soria, among many other factors, has cast a pall of despair to shroud our hopes and dreams of the playoffs. At this point, only another improbable big winning streak coupled with some other contenders falling would pierce that pall.
That's not impossible, but it's not likely either.
I propose an alternate way of experiencing these last few games. It's still nice weather outside, baseball is still being played, and the dark winter of (foot)ball is coming. Let's just enjoy baseball.
If the Royals happen to pull themselves into the Wild Card, then we get to enjoy baseball a little more.
