Game CXLIX Thread: White Sox at Royals

Perhaps if the Royals fire Ned Yost, they can hire Alex Smith. I hear he's a good game manager.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Ned Yost accomplished the second of his two managerial goals last night by finally winning his one-thousandth game as a manager. This makes him 1000-1044 for his career. He may have a losing record but he also has a pair of pennants and a world series victory. Well-respected managers like Buck Showalter, Joe Maddon, and Don Mattingly may have better winning percentages and lots of manager of the year awards between them but none of them have brought home so much as a single pennant. Think about that the next time you're creating a custom snap chat filter.

Today the completely un-fired Ned Yost - who even used Joakim Soria in a close game last night, see he doesn't blow them all! - will send his ace, Danny Duffy, up against the White Sox would-be-an-ace-if-not-for-that-loon-with-the-scissors-or-knife-or-some-other-sharp-object Jose Quintana. Neither team is going to the playoffs but it should be a well-pitched game if you're into that sort of thing. The baseball commissioner does not think you are, though, so you must not be.

Lineups

It seems like Escobar, Gordon, and Perez shouldn't be playing today but that's why Ned Yost is the manager! He knows best!
