The Royals snapped their first losing streak since the Mantis last night, but it may very well have sunk their chances at the playoffs. If they have any hope of clawing their way back into the race again, they're going to need to win, today.
The Royals will send the artist formerly known as Steady Eddie, now just plain ol' Edinson Volquez to the mound to face the Tigers. I don't know if you've heard but Volquez has been bad, lately. Now would be an excellent time to turn things around for the Royals' erstwhile ace. Eddie is 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA in a pair of starts so far this season. So maybe this is the team for him to get good again against.
The Royals will be facing Daniel Norris of the Tigers. Norris was acquired in last year's deal for Price with the Blue Jays and was a highly touted pitching prospect. He pitched passably well for the Tigers last year, and in a similar number of starts this year he has a similar record and a similar ERA. But his WHIP has shot way up, carried by a walk rate that is double what it was last year. A little Royal patience might pay off today. He lost his only start against the Royals a couple weeks ago during the sweep while allowing two runs, one earned, in 5 1/3 innings. He also made a start against the boys in blue last year which went even more poorly for him.

Hopefully there was just a little crosswire between Rally Mantis Magic and Royals Devil Magic and the home team can continue the beginning of another lengthy winning streak, today.
