Sporcle Friday: Royals pitchers of the 2000s

Not for those with a weak stomach.

Tony Muser

The 2000s were a glorious time. The internet was coming of age. The Backstreet Boys captured our national innocence. Reality shows gave rich socialites like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian the attention they finally deserved. And the Royals were a god awful baseball team.

From 2000 to 2009, the Royals lost 59% of their games, four times losing 100 games or more in a season, and enjoying just one winning season. There were some decent hitters that came through Kansas City - Carlos Beltran, Johnny Damon, Mike Sweeney - but on the mound was a parade of pitchers that made Royals fans shudder.

Most of these pitchers did not last very long. But some stuck around long enough to make our list. Can you name the top 25 pitchers from 2000 to 2009 in innings pitched for the Royals? The years listed are their years with the team over that period, although some may have pitched for the Royals before and after that decade.

How many top Royals pitchers from the 2000s can you name?
