Sunday afternoon was day to give tribute to the Royals players that gave us so many thrills over the last few years, and boy, was it a day for the feels.
Before the game, there were hugs.

It was a fitting tribute that Fetty Wap’s Trap Queen played every time Hosmer, Moustakas, Cain, and Escobar batted, the song that the team frequently played during the 2015 season as they rallied to a championship.
I never thought hearing Trap Queen could bring a grown man to tears. pic.twitter.com/RykoF7shwG

The crowd gave Eric Hosmer a standing ovation when he came to bat in the first.

And sure enough, Hosmer, who always seems to shine brightest in the spotlight, came through.

Of course, it wasn’t just Hosmer that got a standing ovation.

Fans were sentimental.
Final #Royals game of the year. The last with the core of the championship teams. Yet, there is no sadness today. Only gratitude. And thankfulness for the opportunity to share the moments with friends and fans. Onward!

Alcides Escobar offered at the first pitch he saw today. He's a sentimental dude. #Royals

Oh no, I just explained to my six year old that @TheRealHos35, @Mooose_8, @alcidesescobar2, and Lo Cain could be playing in their last game ever as Royals and he burst into tears. He's always Hoz in the backyard.

No matter what happens, we had a team that loved each other, our city and us. And I couldn’t ask for much more.

Thank you Hos. Thank you Moose. Thank you LoCain. Thank you Esky. We don’t know if any of them will be back, but we do know they gave us the most unforgettable era in Royals history. #ForeverRoyal
