It’s pretty much their name with a “-y” at the end.

Baseball has a strong tradition of nicknames for players. “The Babe”. “Joltin’ Joe”. “The Splendid Splinter.” “Death to Flying Things.”

Nowadays, however, player simply shorten their last name and slap a “y” at the end. Alcides Escobar becomes “Esky.” Alex Gordon becomes “Gordy.” Bob Horner becomes...well, you get the point.
