“A lot of people say you can tell how a season's gonna go by the first hitter of the year.”

-Harry Doyle, Major League

On Opening Day, everyone is hitting .000, their batting line a blank slate. The leadoff hitter that day introduces fans to a new season. Perhaps that hitter can set the table for the rest of the season.

The Royals have had many different leadoff hitters throughout their history. Sometimes they have looked to on-base percentage for their leadoff hitter. Other times they have looked to speed. At times, it seemed like they were just drawing names out of a hat.

Twenty-seven different hitters have kicked off the season hitting leadoff for the Royals. How many can you name?
