The Royals are off to their worst start since 2006, but Scott Elarton is not walking through that door. Emil Brown is not walking through that door. This Royals team is obviously more talented than their 2-6 record, but they need to start winning games to dig out of this hole. There has been plenty of blame to go around, from the lackluster offense, to a shaky bullpen, to a disappointing start from Jason Hammel in yesterday's game.
The Royals will have to salvage the series tonight with Jason Vargas, who looked fantastic his last time out against Houston. Jesse Hahn goes for the A's, as he tries to rebound from a disappointing 2016 season. He was sharp his last time out, and did not give up a run in his only start at Kauffman in 2015, where he lasted 5 1/3 innings.
