The Royals have placed outfielder Jorge Soler on the 10-day disabled list after he suffered a grade-1 oblique injury last week in spring training. The move opens up a roster spot for speedster Terrance Gore. The Royals also officially added reliever Peter Moylan to the roster. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Royals placed Hunter Dozier on the 60-day disabled list with a left-oblique strain, according to MLB.com reporter Jeffrey Flanagan.

Update: Dozier has a grade-2 strain and is out 6-8 weeks.

Soler, who was acquired from the Cubs last winter for Wade Davis, has a history of numerous injuries, including missing two months last year with a hamstring injury. He had struggled mightily in camp, hitting just .143 with two home runs and 18 strikeouts in 49 at-bats.

According to Kansas City reporter Rustin Dodd, Soler is eligible to return April 9, but the club does not anticipate him being ready by then.

Gore has played in 37 regular season games for the Royals the last three seasons with 19 stolen bases, but has gotten only nine plate appearances. The 25-year old outfielder hit .233/.314/.249 with 44 steals in 88 games last year for AA Northwest Arkansas. Gore made the Opening Day roster last year and helped the Royals win a thrilling game in walk-off fashion against the Twins.

The Royals Opening Day roster is now set. The club opens up play on Monday at 3:10 against the Twins from Target Field in Minneapolis.
