The Omaha Storm Chasers official Twitter account announced that Kyle Zimmer has been placed on the disabled list with right shoulder soreness, retroactive to April 21st. The report was confirmed by Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com:

And then everybody sang:

The news is unsurprising while still being disheartening. Zimmer was pulled from his start last Thursday with shoulder soreness after only one inning.

Zimmer had managed to throw all of 9.2 recorded innings this season between AA and AAA, trumping last year's total of 5.2 innings.

The oft-injured pitcher underwent thoracic outlet surgery last year after being shut down early and trying to work his way back.

Perhaps no singular tweet encompasses the ennui of Zimmer more than this one.

It is unknown what the cause or severity of the shoulder injury is this time around, but considering Zimmer's medical history, a quick return would be the hope-against-hope scenario.
