The Royals will not only try to break through the one-run barrier, they will try to put themselves in the win column for the first time this year. Yes it is just two games, but they have been terrible games, and compounding things are the fact the Cleveland Indians have won their first three games, putting the Royals already at 2.5 games out of first place. Yes, there are 160 games left, but you never like to start the marathon by tripping and falling flat on your face.
Jason Hammel makes his Royals debut today, hoping to show all the teams that feigned interest in him last winter they were wrong to pass him over. The Twins counter with Mizzou grad Kyle Gibson, who has a career 4.59 ERA in the big leagues, but has somehow performed well against the Royals with a career 3.58 ERA in 11 starts.
Brandon Moss is back in the lineup today against a right-hander, and Moose is back at third base. Will today bring more runs?
