Ian Kennedy has made two starts since coming back from his hamstring injury that sidelined him for two and a half weeks.
In those starts, he has given up nine runs in just seven innings of work, raising his ERA from 3.03 to its current resting place of 4.43.
He will look for a rebound in tonight's rubber match against the Tigers, taking on the struggling Matthew Boyd, who has given up 14 runs in his last 12.1 innings. It has also been over a month since he gave up two runs or fewer in a start.
The Royals have a pretty decent history against Boyd, tagging him for 11 runs in just 3.2 innings against him last season.
