In the immortal words of Mr. Cub Ernie Banks "Let's play two!"
In game 1 earlier today, the Royals were down 5-1 but rallied to win 11-6. The Royals hit 4 home runs and used 6 pitchers throwing 224 pitches. I think it's safe to say Ned hopes Jason Hammel goes out and eats a lot of innings.
The Twins counter with Felix Jorge making his major league debut.
A couple of notes around the Strahm injury:
Matt Strahm is going on the 10-day DL. Miguel Almonte is coming up. Thought this might happen with bullpen so thin.

Ned Yost said Strahm has been battling some patellar tendinitis in his left knee.

Miguel Almonte will be in uniform for the second game tonight, the Royals say. He must have been hanging nearby.

Royals say Miguel Almonte was in Omaha when he got the call. On his way here.

Just a reminder for those scoreboard watching, the Indians and Tigers started game 2 of their doubleheader at 6:15. If the Royals could pick up 2 games on both the Twins and Indians today... wow. Kansas City would be 1 ahead of Minnesota and just 1 back of the Cleveland.
