Game 100: Royals at Tigers

The Royals look for their second consecutive series sweep

The Royals stumbled out of the 2nd half gate, losing four of their first five games after the All-Star break. They looked all but dead after Mikie Mahtook hit a go-ahead, two-run home run off of Kelvin Herrera in the 9th inning of last Wednesday's contest.

Kansas City came back to win that game in the bottom of the 9th and they haven't lost a game since.

The Royals will send Ian Kennedy to the mound tonight, looking for a season-high 8th straight win to put them at a season-high six games above .500.

Opposing him will be the beleaguered Anibal Sanchez, who has been in a sharp regression since 2015, knotching a 5.50 ERA in his last 77 appearances.

Kennedy, meanwhile, is coming off his worst start in almost two months, giving up five runs in his four innings against the White Sox last Friday. Prior to last Friday's start, Kennedy had registered a 2.68 ERA in 37.0 innings dating back to June 16.
