The Royals are off tonight, but the front office is still hard at work, looking to make a deal to improve this team. They already acquired three pitchers from the Padres earlier this week, but are still looking for pitching depth. They are reportedly “making progress” on a deal for Blue Jays pitcher Francisco Liriano. They have also been linked to pitchers like Dan Straily, Marco Estrada, Lance Lynn, and Jaime Garcia, who could be on the move again with the Twins slumping.
That doesn’t even address the offense, which could still use upgrades in left-field and designated hitter, and even shortstop, although don’t expect the Royals to bench Alcides Escobar. Names like Jay Bruce, Curtis Granderson, Melky Cabrera, Carlos Gomez, Rajai Davis, and Daniel Nava could become available.
