Trevor Cahill makes his Royals debut tonight, even as there are trade rumors he may be sent to the pen if the Royals acquire another starter. Cahill has been quite solid with a 3.69 ERA and 3.40 FIP, and his 10.6 strikeouts per-nine-innings may cause some fans to be puzzled as to why Cahill’s stint in the rotation may be brief.
Cahill has not fared well in Fenway with a 7.79 ERA in three career starts, although the last one came in 2011. Eduardo Rodriguez goes for the Red Sox, and Dustin Pedroia is out of the starting line up for the Red Sox tonight.
