Ned Yost has few answers after his team set a club record for most consecutive scoreless innings.
"Well, it just is what it is. You can get frustrated. But guys are just right now not producing. It's not in the amount of work that they're doing or that they're pressing. I don't sense that. We're just not getting the job done."
Whit Merrifield acknowledges the team’s recent slide.
“Guys are just trying to do a little too much,” second baseman Whit Merrifield said. “We all know we’re struggling.”
Danny Duffy got good news from his MRI.
Duffy was diagnosed with a “very low grade pronator strain” in the muscles near the elbow, Yost said, a result of a valgus extension overload he sustained in recent weeks. The club is still hopeful he could miss just one start.
“Nothing serious,” Yost said. “His MRI was completely the same as before we signed him to his long-term contract, which means there was no change.”...
“We’ll see,” Yost said, when asked if Duffy could miss just one start. “I’m hoping.”
