Thursday Thread: Mariners at Royals

Kansas City gets a much-needed return to Kauffman Stadium

Peter G. Aiken-USA TODAY Sports

It's amazing how the Royals and Indians have essentially matched each other for two straight months. Both teams go on nine-game winning streaks, and then they both lay gigantic turds on the road in AL East parks. The Royals were swept by the Orioles, but they're still very much in the AL Central race. They need to take this four-game series from the mediocre Seattle Mariners.

Opening things up in game one are Trevor Cahill, Kansas City's big trade deadline acquisition who had a very bad debut in Boston, and the Mariners' Yovani Gallardo. The Royals have handled Seattle in recent memory: they've only lost one home series to the Mariners since 2012, and they swept them in Seattle earlier this year.

Recap will be posted a bit late tonight (I get off work right around the time the game ends), but I'm off tomorrow to be able to post the game story on time.
