The Royals will open the 2018 season at home against the Chicago White Sox on Thursday, March 29. The team unveiled their 2018 schedule which will start earlier than usual due to more off days added under the new labor deal.
The 2018 schedule will see the Royals take on National League Central foes in interleague play, beginning with the Milwaukee Brewers at home on April 24-25. The Cincinnati Reds will come to town June 2-12, the Chicago Cubs will visit Kauffman Stadium August 6-8, and the St. Louis Cardinals will travel cross-state August 10-12. The Royals will travel to St. Louis (May 21-23), Milwaukee (June 26-27), Pittsburgh (September 17-19), and Cincinnati (September 25-26).
The season ends on September 30, concluding with a four-game series at home against the Indians. The Royals will have a nine-game road trip right before that series that takes them to Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Cincinnati. The longest road trip of the year takes place just after the All-Star break, a ten-game trip that will take the Royals to New York to play the Yankees, Chicago to play the White Sox, and Minnesota to play the Twins. After that trip, the Royals have their longest homestand of the season, a ten-game stretch in August where they host the White Sox, Cardinals, and Blue Jays.
The Royals will be home on Easter Sunday (April 1), Memorial Day (May 28), Father’s Day (June 18), and Independence Day (July 4). A promotional schedule will be announced later this off-season.
Game times will be announced later. Times and dates are subject to change.
