Despite a horrific August, the Royals still remain just three games back of the 2nd Wild Card spot with 24 games to go. The longer one last heroic run of wins waits to get started, the worse the playoff chances look.
A series win against a team that just blew you out of the water seems to be a good way to start. After losing 13-2 last night in Detroit in Jason Vargas' worst start of the season, the Royals will look to bounce back against Matthew Boyd and the Tigers. Kansas City has a pretty good history against Boyd, tagging him for 30 runs in his 32.2 innings pitched against the Royals since he came into the league in 2015.
Ned Yost will send Jason Hammel to the mound, looking to bounce back from back to back rough starts. He has given up at least four runs in three of his last four starts.
Here are your lineups for the evening.
