Jhoulys Chacin was a pretty good starter in 2018. He was actually a pretty good starter in four of the past six years and six of the last nine. He has a career ERA of 3.86. He’s generally been a very solid pitcher for some mediocre teams and so many had no idea who he was. However, in his first stint in the post-season he has done exactly what the Brewers want from him - win games. He has made two starts and won both of them though he’s only totaled 10.1 innings.
The Dodgers are countering with rookie Walker Buehler. The kid has been phenomenal for the west coast boys in blue, this year, to the tune of s 2.62 ERA in 24 appearances, 23 of which were starts. His post-season has not been quite so impressive, unfortunately. He’s actually pitched more innings in his pair of starts than Chacin but he’s done it with a 6.75 ERA.
Elimination games are among the most fun in all of baseball. Neither starter is going to be allowed to get into much trouble and you can expect to see all hands on deck. Players will be living and dying with every pitch. And so will the fans. Clayton Kershaw will probably pitch in relief at some point as he continues to try to dispel the miasma of repeated playoff failure. These teams have played some really great games so far and tonight should be no exception.
