A Royals Guide to the Postseason: Why You Shouldn’t Be Rooting for the Brewers

Yes, I know what you’re thinking. "Lorenzo Cain! Mike Moustakas! Let’s cheer on our former Kansas City Royals who brought us so much happiness just a few years ago!" I get where you’re going with that, but sorry folks, but that’s the last thing we should be doing this year.

This is a tough situation we’re in here as Royals fans. Obviously, we feel attached to these players and love to see them succeed simply because we spent so much time watching them grow up at Kauffman. We’ve witnessed their ups and downs, know the ins and outs of their games, and some still even pull out their jerseys for the occasional excursion to the K. They’re our 2015 Champions.

But what happens if they do the same thing in Milwaukee?

It may be greedy, but is anyone here really willing to share Mike Moustakas and Lorenzo Cain with the Brewers fanbase? Yes, the Royals failed to pick up Cain in free agency and they parted ways with Moustakas for some young talent, but that doesn’t mean their legacies were set once they departed from Kansas City. It may be tough to swallow, but if the Brewers go the distance in October, Cain and Moustakas aren’t going to be Our Champions. They’ll be Their Champions, too.

Think about it? Do you really want Miller Park rocking with "MOOOOOSE" chants when he hits the game-winning double in a uniform other than the Royals? Do you want Cain going down in history for his incredible diving catch to protect a Brewers lead in the ninth? Let me answer that for you: NO, YOU DON’T.

Take this as you’d like, but I’m not willing to share my superstars with another city. I don’t want Lorenzo Cain’s name being linked to a legendary Brewers postseason run. I don’t need to see Moustakas holding up the Commissioner’s Trophy with unfamiliar faces surrounding him. You might love to see that, but not me.
