Spring training has begun, which means baseball season is right around the corner. By the end of next month, the Royals will be hosting the White Sox in the season opener. But who will be on the roster? The Royals are rebuilding, making the roster a bit more difficult to peg. And it is rather difficult to predict who will be on the roster when there are still nearly 100 unsigned free agents, including Eric Hosmer, who the Royals have made a seven-year offer.
Take a shot and give us your best prediction on who will be on the Opening Day roster. If there are players you think the Royals will add over the next seven weeks, put that in your prediction.
Here are the players currently in the organization with a reasonable shot of making the roster:
Catchers: Drew Butera, Cam Gallagher, Salvador Perez
Infielders: Cody Asche, Cheslor Cuthbert, Hunter Dozier, Alcides Escobar, Ryan Goins, Nicky Lopez, Whit Merrifield, Raúl Mondesí, Ryan O’Hearn, Frank Schwindel, Ramon Torres
Outfielders: Jorge Bonifacio, Billy Burns, Tyler Collins, Alex Gordon, Terrance Gore, Paulo Orlando, Jorge Soler, Bubba Starling
Starting pitchers: Danny Duffy, Sam Gaviglio, Jesse Hahn, Jason Hammel, Jakob Junis, Nate Karns, Ian Kennedy, Trevor Oaks, Eric Skoglund
Relief pitchers: Miguel Almonte, Blaine Boyer, Mike Broadway, Brian Flynn, Kelvin Herrera, Tim Hill, Brad Keller, Kevin Lenik, Richard Lovelady, Andres Machado, Seth Maness, Brandon Maurer, Kevin McCarthy, Wily Peralta, Burch Smith, Glenn Sparkman, Eric Stout, Kyle Zimmer
Who is on your 25-man roster?
