The Kansas City Royals have won an astonishing two games in the month of June so far. This is ridiculous and every bit as terrible as it seems; winning two out of your last 17 contests is as impressive as it is depressing.
But somehow, that’s not even the worst streak of baseball the Royals have had this millennium. In 2005, a year in which the Royals finished 56-106, Kansas City lost a game in late July. No big deal. Except they lost the next one. And then the next one. And then the one after that. And then another one. One more, again. And the next and the next and the next. When they won a game on August 20, they brought an end to a 19-game losing streak. Unbelievable.
The 2005 Royals went 5-21 in the month of August. Can the 2018 Royals do better than that in the month of June? They’ll need to win some games quick.
