Today is the last contest between the Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox for the rest of the 2018. Savor it. Or, don’t.
Ironically, such a clash between two definitely not titans is actually meaningful. Kansas City is the second-worst team in baseball. Chicago is the third-worst. The White Sox have lost seven consecutive contests and are 6.5 games behind the Royals with half a month to go. If the Royals win tonight, that number will decrease to 5.5 games. If the White Sox win, that will probably seal the deal, as it is extremely unlikely to make up 7.5 games in any direction at this point in the season.
But we’ll see, eh?

Chicago lineup, sans hope and good feelings:
Carlos Rodón is 5-2 with a 2.53 ERA, .171 opp. average and 1.04 WHIP in his last 11 starts (nine QS). His 2.53 ERA is third-lowest in the American League behind Cleveland's Carlos Carrasco (2.43) and Boston's David Price (2.47).
