I know everybody is watching the Chiefs and the first Sunday of the NFL season, so I’ll make this quick because it was a very inconsequential game.
The Royals lost to the Twins, 3-1. They lost because Jason Hammel inexplicably still exists.
Here we have a 47-94 team that started Ian Kennedy and played Jason Hammel today. Can you even ponder how stupid that is? This is a lost season and every single inning your squad logs should be thrown by an arm you plan on being a part of this organization for the next five years. So naturally, they do... exactly the opposite.
Kennedy was fine, but that’s beside the point. He got through six innings and surrendered just four hits and a run. Kansas City trailed 1-0 until Adalberto Mondesi hit a solo homer in the sixth inning.
Then Jason Hammel walked in and promptly pooped his pants, just like he always does. He gave up a walk-off homer to somebody called Ehire Adrianza. His ERA is back over 6.00. I can’t believe we’re still doing this with him. Just cut your losses at this point.
The Royals are 47-94. They return to Kauffman Stadium to play three with the White Sox this week.
