The Royals had their magical run in 2014, but they were the plucky underdogs. Their partners across the parking lot have some of the same kind of feeling - likeable players, an exciting brand of play, but they are the top seed in the AFC, and should be the favorites to make their first Super Bowl in four decades.
But man, it seems like a lot of people are picking the sixth-seed Colts to win this game. Maybe it is just being contrarian, maybe it is to hype up a close game in what should ordinarily be a blowout when you match up a #1 seed vs. a #6 seed, a team that didn’t score less than 26 points a game this year, against a team that was shut out 6-0 by the Jacksonville Jaguars a month ago.
But the Colts do have a tremendous quarterback in Andrew Luck, a solid run game, one of the best offensive lines in football, and oh yea, the Chiefs defense is absolutely terrible. And that’s without getting into Chiefs past playoff disappointment, much of which has come due to the Colts themselves. Adding another element of interest is the snowstorm that came over Kansas City Friday evening that could work against an indoor team like the Colts, or perhaps give them an edge since they have a more experienced running game.
