The Royals may not have a ton of marketable superstars right now, but everyone loves dogs, right? The club is counting on dog-lovers coming out on July 13 to get a bobblehead of Danny Duffy and his dog Sadie, one of three bobbleheads they will distribute this year, according to their blog.
May 11 — Royals 2018 Special Achievement Player Adalberto Mondesi will be featured on a bobblehead, courtesy of Minit Mart.
July 13 — Royals pitcher Danny Duffy and his lovable dog Sadie will be featured on a dual bobblehead.
August 17 — A vintage bobblehead will be distributed, courtesy of AAA Insurance.
Among the ther giveaways include a magnetic schedule for the season opener on March 28, a reusable bag on April 13, a license plate holder on April 27, CrownVision Photo Frame on Mother’s Day, a baseball cap on May 24, a Royals pullover white jersey on May 25, a “Whit Oven Mitt” on June 8, a Hawaiian t-shirt on June 22, a pitcher and cup set on July 4, a fanny-pack on July 26, a Royals button-down alternate jersey on July 27, a resuable water bottle on August 31, a ladies tote bag on September 13, a fleece blanket on Septmber 28, and a team photo on September 29.
As always, the Royals will honor the Negro Leagues with a day on June 23 where fans are encouraged to “Dress to the Nines”, with the first 10,000 fans receiving a “Short Bill Baseball Cap.” The Big Slick Celebrity Softball Game will also be back with comedians Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, Rob Riggle, Eric Stonestreet, David Koechner bringing their friends for a game on June 7. For a glimpse at Royals prospects, plan on Futures Night on September 27.
The Royals will also officially have a Pride Night for the LGBTQ community on September 4. Matthew LaMar wrote a bit about the efforts to make that happen last year. There will also be be nights honoring teachers (April 26), nurses and law enforcement (May 14), the Armed Forces (July 3), Girls Scouts (July 9) and Boy Scouts (April 28), and Faith and Family Night (July 27).
There will be nights for area colleges - Wichita State (April 27), Kansas State (June 22), Mizzou (July 13), Nebraska (July 27), Kansas (August 17), and Missouri State (August 30).
For music fans there will be Country Music Night on July 17 and Beatles Night on August 16. For the kids (or kid at heart), Harry Potter Day is June 8 and Star Wars Night is September 15. Even Jon Snow knows that Game of Thrones Day is April 14. If you want to go back in time, July 26 is “Fanny Pack & 90’s Night” which will be totally radical. Bark at the Park, where you can bring your dog to the K, is April 29.
The Royals will also continue to have Student Nights, where tickets are just $8 in the View Reserved or Outfield Plaza, Buck Nights, where hot dogs and peanuts are just $1, Friday Night Fireworks, and Family FunDay Sundays.
