The Nationals did not rest on their laurels after winning their first playoff series since moving to Washington D.C. Anibal Sanchez took the mound and almost no-hit the Cardinals in Game One of the NLCS before ultimately combining with Sean Doolittle for a shutout. Now the Nationals can go to their big guns in the rotation starting with Max Scherzer tonight but soon to be followed by Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin. The Cardinals are sending out Adam Wainwright but it is still not going to be easy for them to recover from that showing last night.
The NLCS matchup may have taken many baseball fans by surprise but I don’t think anyone is shocked at all to see the Yankees and the Astros matching up for Game One of the ALCS tonight. Zack Greinke will match up against Masahiro Tanaka. Say what you will about the power of bullpens in the playoffs and the number of home runs hit this year but the amount of star power standing on the mounds in the first innings of today’s games is just phenomenal. It should be a lot of fun.
