Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send 30 polls to plugged in fans from each team. Royals fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse.

Royals fans can be an optimistic bunch, but even their optimism can be tested after back-to-back 100+ loss seasons. While fans may feel like the franchise is generally on the right track, they don’t expect the team to be contending any time soon. According to our latest Fanpulse results, just 12 percent of Royals fans that responded felt the club could contend next year.

Really, I am surprised it is as high as 12 percent. I should also note that Missouri legalized medicinal marijuana in 2018, which may have affected the results of this survey.

For this week’s national question, we asked fans what they thought of the World Series, which ended with the Nationals pulling off an upset in seven games.

Remember, you can sign up to participate in the FanPulse surveys at this link! Surveys will go out each week and only take a few minutes to complete. Check back next week for more FanPulse results!
