Today is the first day of spring training, a good time to make predictions on which 25 players will be introduced at Kauffman Stadium on Opening Day against the Chicago White Sox 44 days from now.
Much of the Royals starting lineup seems about set, but right field may still be up in the air. Jorge Bonifacio and Brett Phillips still have an option year remaining, which may work agains them, while Brian Goodwin and Terrance Gore do not. The fifth spot in the starting rotation is up for grabs with Heath Fillmyer and Jorge Lopez the most likely candidates, although a surprise candidate like Ben Lively, Trevor Oaks, or even veterans Homer Bailey or Jesse Hahn could impress with a strong spring. As for the bullpen, it is almost completely up for grabs save for maybe veterans Wily Peralta and Brad Boxberger.
