Wednesday Thread: Royals at Rays

Don’t get swept again please.

MLB: Kansas City Royals at Tampa Bay Rays Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

I know that Ryan Lefebvre has said it 200 times this series, but the Royals really did used to own Tampa Bay. They went 4-2 against them in 2012, 6-1 in 2013, 4-2 in 2014, 6-1 in 2015, and 5-2 in 2016. They also went 3-1 in their first series against Tampa in 2017.

So what’s that, 28-9 against the Rays in that stretch?

Then the floor fell out. They went 1-2 in the final series of 2017 against TB, they were swept in seven games by the Rays in 2018, and now they’re on the cusp of getting swept again.

From 28-9 to 1-11. Baseball happened.

Today, the Royals can get their first win against Tampa Bay since August 2017, but the pitching matchup (Jake Junis vs. Blake Snell) is not favorable. Chris Owings is hitting FIFTH. Maybe this will be the one that works, just because.
