I write this on Monday, June 17, the Year of Our Lord 2019. If you are wondering, “Gee, it seems like this is early to write the game thread; there aren’t any lineups available yet” you’d be correct. See, I forgot to post the game thread last week. It was not the first time I’ve done so this year. I do not want to continue forgetting. Hence this.

Lineups will be filled in tomorrow, but for now I’m left trying to guess what happened on Monday as the precursor to this game. My guesses:

  • A bullpen arm has a bad day
  • Jorge Soler strokes a massive dong
  • The Royals lose

Let’s see if this happened! Yes, it’s still June, but I’m trying to find ways to amuse myself. You would, too, if you were tasked with writing about a team barrelling towards its second consecutive 100-loss season. Maybe that’s why Rustin Dodd jumped ship.

Anyway here’s the lineups.

Royals:

Mariners:

May the Royals win this Battle for Grass Creek. Amen.
