The 2019 MLB draft resumes Tuesday at noon CT, and it should pick up at a much quicker pace than yesterday’s slog. They will conduct rounds 3-10 today, and finish the draft on Wednesday with rounds 11-40 beginning at 11:00 a.m. CT. The draft will air exclusively on

The Royals selected Texas prep infielder Bobby Witt, Jr. with the second overall pick, and when he signs he wil be easily the top prospect in the system, and likely a top 50 prospect in all of baseball. With their second-round pick, the Royals selected Florida Gators infielder Brady McConnell, who shows good pop but also strikes out a lot and may have some questions about where he ends up defensively. With their Competitive Balance pick, the Royals selected Arizona State right-handed pitcher Alec Marsh, who was their Friday starter, featuring a good five-pitch mix that includes a low-to-mid-90s fastball.

Here is what Fangraphs had to say about the Royals’ first day of the draft.

Witt is a potential superstar. McConnell could be a shortstop with power, but we think there’s a chance he ends up with a 30 bat. Marsh is deadly when he has breaking ball feel, as both of them are big league out-pitches when located.

The Royals will have the second pick in each round of the draft at this point. Here are the top players on the board, according to Baseball America, with their pre-draft ranking.
