For a team that is 40-games under .500 and is also competing with the start of the most anticipated Chiefs season ever, the Royals have actually been pretty busy over the last week or so.

The biggest news, obviously, being that owner David Glass is looking towards selling the team. Along with that, however, has been Jorge Soler’s pursuit of the Royals single-season home run record, Brad Keller being shut down for the season, Brett Phillips’ masterful defense, and Alex Gordon becoming a relief pitcher.

With the Glass news, the Royals rebuild could take a drastic, franchise-altering turn that some have speculated could end with Dayton Moore on the hot seat. At this point, though, that is all conjecture. And the Royals still have a few baseball games to play this season.

Glenn Sparkman will take the mound for the Royals, looking to split a four-game set against an Athletics team clinging to a one-game lead over the Rays for the second Wild Card. Here are your lineups for today’s afternoon action. First pitch is slated for 12:15 PM CDT.
