We almost didn’t see any playoff baseball on a Saturday this year which would be bizarre if everything else wasn’t already incredibly bizarre. Just a couple nights ago it seemed likely that the Braves and Rays would dispatch their respective competition before we ever got here. But they couldn’t pull it off and you have to wonder if the Astros and Dodgers have stolen the momentum for a rematch.
The Braves and Dodgers get the first matchup and we’ll see a repeat of the Game 1 starters as Max Fried will face off against Walker Buehler. The two pitchers are both terrific and this one may come down to the bullpens again.
The Astros and Rays will matchup their Game 2 pitchers. Former Astro Charlie Morton led the Rays over Lance McCullers and the Astros in that matchup. Can he do it one more time to get the Rays into only their second-ever World Series? Or will Lance McCullers successfully deliver the killing blow to his opponents’ metaphorical jugular without getting ahead of himself, this time?
