Royals Make Most of Limited Contact--Win 2020 Opening Day Game

Despite striking out fourteen times during the game the Kansas City Royals took advantage of their novel "ball contact avoidance during this virus" strategy in defeating the Chicago White Sox 3-1 to begin their 2020 season on a winning note. Brad Keller pitched six and a third shutout innings while both Salvador Perez and unlikely slugger Nicky Lopez placed solo shots over the wall. With the Pale Hose trailing by only one run late in the contest Lopez also managed a needed sacrifice fly for an insurance run. Lopez was quoted after the game, "I don't know if it was the wind blowing out or the opening day adrenaline or my new diet, but I am happy just to help the team today."

Newest member of the Kansas City club Raimel Tapia struck out three times but used his speed to succeed with an infield single. "I was social distancing in the mountains of Colorado when I got word from the rural mail carrier that "Dayton Moore" had traded Brett Phillips for me," Raimel said after the game with help from translator Salvador Perez. "I paddled my fishing raft as fast as I could to the nearest telephone only to be surprised to find out that they were starting the season today. I was lucky to make the flight out of Denver to Chicago."

Note--I am running the 2020 season in OOTP21. I am using the default settings except for manually setting the 40 man rosters as of March 25. I am the GM of the Royals but decided that the best way to see how the Royals do in 2020 would be to give my assistant "Dayton" all responsiblities. "Moore" made the trade for Tapia.
