Opening Day Thread: Royals at Indians

At long last, the regular season begins with Danny Duffy.

MLB: Baltimore Orioles at Kansas City Royals Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

What’s guaranteed to be the weirdest season in MLB history is all set to begin today for 26 of 30 teams, including the Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Indians. It’s the first of 60 games.

All the Royals have to do is go, like, 28-32 and they’ll probably make the playoffs given the new format! It’s definitely within reach, but they’ll have to get off to a better start than they’ve had in any of the last three years. The Royals won exactly seven games in each of the last three Aprils, effectively burying them in the standings before the weather heated into the 80s. Well, the weather is hot now, and the Royals have a chance to contend for a playoff spot behind a promising offense and a questionable pitching staff.

Danny Duffy and Shane Beiber will duel on Opening Day in Cleveland. The Mike Matheny era will begin. No fans. Chaos guaranteed.

Enjoy Opening Day!
