It’s the Twins and Royals.
Again.
It’s Randy Dobnak vs Brady Singer.
AGAIN.
If it feels like the Royals only play the Twins...well they’ve played them a lot recently. This will be Brady Singer’s third straight start against the Twins and his second straight matchup against Randy Dobnak. The two faced off on Sunday and the Twins came away with a 4-2 victory. Singer, however, earned his first major league win against the Twins two starts ago when he out-dueled José Berríos.
Dobnak has been a revelation for the Twins since earning a promotion late last year. So far this year he has a 1.42 ERA and a 4-1 record in five starts. The Royals are the only team to have hit a home run or scored more than one run against him, so far this season. The best hope for Royals fans is that Dobnak’s FIP suggests his ERA shouldn’t be quite as good as it is and he might be due for some regression. Dobnak is a groundball pitcher who has been getting just as many groundballs as he could hope for. As Rex might say, the Royals probably need to see him the other way if they want to get runners on.
